Dear Accessibility Bridge Community,
Accessibility Bridge Corporation was born from my experience as a mother, my commitment to inclusion, and my belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
My son, Lawrence, is diagnosed with having level 2 autism and an intellectual disability. His journey has taught me that a person's support needs should never be mistaken for a limit on their potential.
Lawrence is a college graduate and a two-time Paralympian (swimming) who drives independently and navigates the world with support when needed. His accomplishments are a source of tremendous pride, but what matters most to me is what his journey represents: the possibilities that emerge when individuals are given opportunities, their abilities are recognized, and they have the support they need to pursue their goals.
My son is the combined product of a rural public school system and homeschooling, and as I navigated resources and services for him, I experienced firsthand how difficult it can be for families to find the right information, understand their options, and access meaningful support.
I recognized a gap between what currently exists in terms of resources and what resources families can tangibly access. I founded Accessibility Bridge to help close that gap, not just for my family, but for families throughout Southern Maryland and beyond.
My commitment to this work is grounded in lived experience, supported by my education in Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State University, and strengthened by years of nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and community advocacy. Through my work with the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council, the Charles County Commission on Individuals with Disabilities, fortune 500 national brands, and community partners, I have seen how collaboration can turn shared concerns into meaningful progress.
At Accessibility Bridge, we connect individuals with disabilities and their families to resources, education, and opportunities that support inclusion throughout the lifespan. We recognize that caregivers need support, too, and that stronger families and stronger communities go hand in hand. Our role is to help people navigate available resources, make informed decisions, and build connections that create lasting impact.
I envision a community where families know where to turn, caregivers feel equipped rather than isolated, and individuals with disabilities are valued for their abilities, contributions, and aspirations. Achieving that vision requires more than one organization. It requires a community willing to invest in inclusion, work together, and recognize that accessibility benefits us all.
Lawrence is part of the reason I began this journey. The families and individuals we serve are the reason I continue it. And the community we build together will determine how far our impact reaches.
Thank you for believing in what is possible when we work together.
With purpose and commitment,
Dee Sapp
